Google is going to shut down the Android Auto app soon, but there is a workaround

Google has announced that it will be shutting down the Android Auto mobile app soon. However, the company will replace it with Google Assistant.

The company has confirmed that starting with Android 12, the standalone Android Auto for Phone Screens app will not be available to users.

The search giant also ensured that users who rely on the app while driving need not worry as the user-friendly interface for driving will be available on the Android phone through the Google Assistant driving mode, which is available in Google Maps, or the native. Android Auto interface available in compatible cars. Google said the experience won’t change for anyone who uses Android Auto in compatible cars.

In a statement, Google said, “For those who use the experience on the phone (Android Auto mobile app), they will switch to the Google Assistant driving mode. Google made an official announcement regarding the shutdown after a few users complained about being redirected to the Google Assistant driving mode when they tried to enter the Android Auto for Phone Screens app. The Android Auto app is also not compatible with some Pixel devices running Android 12.
