The feature named “Downloads for you” is currently available for Android users worldwide and only on mobile. However, users can stream the downloaded shows to a nearby TV. According to the company, it will begin testing the feature on iOS soon. Now, to activate the feature, users will need to register or activate the Downloads toggle for you for the first time.

We couldn’t spot the Downloads for you feature on Android at the time of writing. However, if you are an Android user connected to WiFi, it should appear to you soon. To access the Downloads for you option, users need to go to the Downloads tab on their mobile device and switch to Downloads for you. The next step is to select the storage based on how much content users want to download to their device.

After users accept and activate the feature for the first time, they will have the option to select how much storage space they want to dedicate to Netflix content. They can choose from 1GB, 3GB, or 5GB for recommended downloads. The “Downloads for you” feature will automatically download shows once users connect to WiFi. Netflix will determine what its users want to watch by browsing their Netflix viewing history. This is one step further than showing suggestions to users. The Downloads for You feature will also come in handy for users who want to access more offline content on the go.

Netflix noted that its original content and full catalog will be available for download. However, some titles with license restrictions will not be available for download by users.

Netflix also offers smart downloads that started three years ago and helps users save time by downloading future episodes and deleting the ones they have already watched. This feature only works over WiFi and users can turn on the toggle for smart downloads by going to their Netflix app: Downloads> Smart Downloads.
